Las Vegas Mass ShootingGuncontrol has always been a debate dating back to 1934 when the National FirearmsAct (NFA) took place. Despite themajority of the public acting against this policy catastrophic events such asthe Las Vegas mass shooting has taken place.According to Masters (2014), nearly twenty thousand Americans lost theirlives to guns, the highest toll in more than two decades; and the trend lookslikely to continue through 2021. The right to bear arms has been the staple argumentbehind the people who have acted against this policy. What is it going to takefor legislation to understand that guns are out of control? Background checks are one thing but are theystringent enough to weed out the bad guys who are purchasing these firearms.When we look back to the tragic day Paddock killed 58people during a country concert, we have to ask ourselves why the motivefor this massacre was the alleged shooter was a wealthy accountant who loved everyoneand spent most of his time blowing hundreds of dollars in casinos. He wasn’t a bad guy so buying a gun wasn’t anissue he passed all the background checks with flying colors. Gun control is far from being the issue becausegood people should be allowed to own a firearm. The question we should beasking is how the casino security allowed for this man to enter with all theseweapons. After the shooting, the first thing that was established was roomsecurity measures, followed by tighter security measures. This is what needs to be done not attack gunowners who thrive on recreational use.
