The project is to collect, organize and describe sample data. It is related to the following:

Chapter 3 Descriptive Measures

The project paper is at least 2 pages but more pages is better (per instructor). It should be typed in Word document and should include the following:

Provide introduction. Examples may include the following:
Describe the purpose of study.
Describe the importance of your study or outline the structure of your paper.
Provide sample data and describe how you collect the data. The sample size should be at least 30. However, the larger the sample size, the better.
You may collect sample data in person, using Facebook, or using other resources. The data should be collected by yourself, not the data published by other people.
Describing how you collect the sample data in detail can help readers better understand the data. For example, if your sample data is about cellphone distribution in Meridian (iPhone, Samsung, etc.), but you do not mention Meridian. A reader in Philadelphia may think the cellphone distribution is in Philadelphia. Another reader may think the data is not useful because the reader does not know whether the data is from a city, a state, or the whole country, whether it is about male or female, or whether it is about teenager, adult, or all ages.
If the sample data is long, you can attach it as an appendix.
Use Excel or SPSS to analyze your data and provide Excel or SPSS outputs.
If your sample data is categorical data, provide both bar chart and pie chart. The pie chart should include category names and percentages.
If the sample data is numerical data, provide descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, etc.).
Discuss your results and draw conclusion. Examples of discussion may include the following:
Which category has the highest frequency (or percentage) and which category has the lowest frequency (or percentage).
State the benefits of your study.
Add information that is not shown in the statistical charts but is important and related to your study. For example, suppose your study shows iPhone is more popular than Samsung. You may explain why iPhone is more popular, based on your opinion or other people’s opinions.
What future studies can be done to improve the study. For example, current study is the distribution of cellphone brands in Meridian (Apple, Samsung, Android, etc.). Future studies may include cellphones in Meridian, Philadelphia and other nearby cities or counties. Or future studies may focus on the cellphone distribution for teenagers, male or females, or college students.
