In practice, providers frequently rely on websites, trusted sources, or applications (“apps”) to assist them in making treatment decisions. Patients may also ask for resources or mention websites they utilize. It is important to be familiar with which websites and tools can be trusted and are most useful to you. The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize the student with a variety of resources that will be useful in practice.
For this assignment, students will create a presentation on a patient-facing or provider-facing online source, application, or tool for prescribing psychiatric medications or managing psychiatric conditions. This can be a mobile application or an online resource. (Applications that focus on meditation, such as Calm and Mindspace, should not be chosen for this assignment). The presentation should address: 1) The purpose of the source/tool and the intended audience, 2) Why the online source/tool can be trusted, 3) The usability of the source/tool  4) Any risks of using this source/tool the provider or patient should be aware of, and 5) If you would use/recommend this in practice.
A list of suggested websites/tools will be provided. In order to prevent multiple students from presenting on the same topic, a sign up page has been created. Please use the Tool Assignment– Topic Sign Up  to reserve your chosen topic. Note: if you have a different source/tool you would like to present, please seek permission from your instructor.

Instructions:

Sign up in the Tool Assignment– Topic Sign Up page for your topic (or, email your instructor to get approval for an alternative source/tool that is not listed)

To Sign up: go to the Tool Assignment– Topic Sign Up (If you are presenting a different topic that has been approved, please still comment). Complete by 11/14/21.

Create a PowerPoint presentation with voiceover on your tool/source (this is a recorded presentation that will include your PPT and your voice) 

Presentation should be 3-5 minute (2-4 slides)
Presentation should address: 1) The purpose of the source/tool and intended audience, 2) Why the online source/tool can be trusted, 3) The usability of the source/tool for provider or patient 4) Any risks of using this source/tool the provider or patient should be aware of, and 5) If you would use this source/tool in practice

Submit your presentation through the assignment link 
Comment on two (2) peers’ presentations. References are not required for these responses.
