Womens History

Here is a bit of background on each of them:Sarah Winnemucca (1844-1891) was a Paiute author, educator, and activist for her people.  She often spoke to white audiences on the lives and sufferings of Native Americans.Anna Julia Cooper (1858-1964) was born into slavery in North Carolina in 1858, she earned B.A. and M.A. degrees at Oberlin and in 1925 at that age of 67 she received a Ph.D. at the Sorbonne in Paris. Cooper spent much of her career as a Latin and mathematics teacher in Washington, D.C. Harriot Stanton Blatch (1856–1940) was a writer, suffragist, and the daughter of pioneering women’s rights activist Elizabeth Cady Stanton.Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1860-1935) was an author and lecturer for social reform.  Her writings and speeches predominantly address feminism, motherhood, sexual relationships, women’s issues, ethics, labor, human rights, and social reform. You will also need to find an additional source of your choosing written by an American woman in the 1880s/1890s. This source can be a speech, a letter, an article, an excerpt from a book, etc. If you need ideas of women from this time period, look in Chapter 6 of your textbook. In your essay, you should:Answer all parts of each of the sections below.Use specific, cited, direct evidence from each of the sources below to support your answers and bring out insightful interpretations.Use correct spelling and grammar.Meet the word count minimum of 1,200 words total.  It is fine to exceed the word count.Format:Double-spaced, 12-point font, Times New Roman is my preference, but you won’t lose points if you use a different font or single space.
